» Communication & Media Training
Today’s most effective managers are not just technicians: they are communicators, people who can persuade, influence, inspire and lead other people to see their point of view and effect change. So communication skills are essential for all managers today, whatever their functional role. Unfortunately, research shows that facing a TV camera makes businesspeople more apprehensive than a visit to the dentist for a filling!
Insignia’s communication coaches can remove that level of concern by providing tips, practice and constructive feedback that result in enhanced confidence and greater effectiveness. Training can be delivered on a one to one basis right through to communication best practice sessions for hundreds of delegates at company events. Our aim is always the same – to help managers deliver their chosen messages to their stakeholders more effectively, whatever the situation.
Media training
Speaking to the media is seen as one of the most pressurized communication experiences. Your words will be recorded for all to see, and the stress of being misquoted or being unable to answer a tough question gnaws away at the back of your mind. Insignia has the techniques and expertise to take away many of these fears so that you can view a media encounter with confidence knowing you have the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.
Insignia’s people have trained executives in Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia. We team selected journalists with empathetic trainers to create a realistic and constructive training experience. Your course is designed specifically for you, both in terms of the interview types – radio or newspaper, publicity or crisis, gentle or challenging – and the scenarios on which they are based.
Every participant receives a DVD of their performance, a personal feedback report and, most importantly, greater competence and confidence to succeed in the glare of the media spotlight.
Speaker/presentation training
All businesspeople are called upon to present from time to time – from the company sales conference, to the industry dinner, the new business pitch to staff briefings. But many managers have never been coached on how to do so. And given that the outcome of these encounters often has a significant effect on their business, this is cause for concern.
Insignia can provide the insights and expertise to power up your executives with tips and techniques to achieve better outcomes. And feedback – whether as part of a one off course, or as an on-going coach – can sharpen performance ahead of key presentations.
Message delivery training
Creating engaging messages is one thing – delivering them with confidence and credibility is quite another. Insignia’s message workshops roadtests and finesses key messages and builds the ability of managers to express them in a persuasive and impactful manner.
Executive communication training and coaching
From teleconferences and team briefings through to customer and investor meetings, managers are expected to be able to get their point across. Insignia can furnish your executives with the secrets of success via personalized training and on-going coaching. Our constructive approach to skill development means that managers enhance their skills and confidence and become noticeably more effective in getting their message across.
Case study
When this healthcare company decided to move many functions to a Central European location with the loss of jobs in western Europe, departmental managers were identified as key communicators. With so many people affected and so many people to talk to – amongst them employees, politicians and the media – the team had a steep challenge ahead of them. And – whilst they may not always admit it – many managers are very nervous about communicating, especially when there’s bad news to get across.
Insignia’s Jonathan Hemus spent time with the key communicators coaching them on messaging and how to prepare and deliver them with clarity, empathy and credibility. No one enjoyed making the announcement, but the training that preceded it meant that its communication was achieved professionally, compassionately and with maximum clarity and control.
